Why We Built This Site
Illinois makes many records accessible but leaves each category with its own custodian. Arrest, jail, investigation, and complaint files held by the Macoupin County Sheriff differ from the charges, docket entries, judgments, and sentences kept by the Circuit Clerk. ISP maintains the statewide repository, IDOC reports state custody, and the registry includes only people covered by its statutes. Bringing the verified offices, portals, and request routes together makes it easier to match a question to its actual source.
What You Will Find Here
- Court access: routes for finding and reading Macoupin County case records
- Custodian details: contact paths for the Sheriff, Circuit Clerk, and Illinois systems
- Personal record review: distinctions between ISP name, fingerprint, and local court channels
- Expungement and sealing: the approved Illinois forms and the Macoupin filing office
What We Cannot Do
This privately operated reference is not a Macoupin County or Illinois government service. It can identify official sources, but it cannot perform their work:
- Certified court copies, police reports, and ISP responses are not issued here
- No FOIA request or expungement and sealing petition is filed on a visitor's behalf
- An official check cannot be run and an individual's file cannot be retrieved
- Charges are not interpreted, outcomes are not predicted, and legal advice is not given
- Current government hours, prices, and procedures cannot be guaranteed
Only the Macoupin County office or Illinois agency maintaining the source record can provide its official copy.
Search Partners
Independent companies operate search boxes found on certain pages and set their own prices, results, and service rules. A purchase or subscription reached through a tool may generate a referral payment that helps support this resource. The outside provider alone decides its charges and what information it returns.
